Use links effectively

Increased amounts of hyperlinks lead to more content consumption.

Links can be a great way to get readers to learn more about a topic, or to connect concepts to each other. However, links should not be used unless they add value.

Over time, things on the internet move, which can break links in your documents. There are ways to avoid this, including:

  • Host as much information on your actual document as is needed.

  • Do not include unnecessary links.

Use the Internet Archive to have more reliable links, as they are archived by the Wayback Machine.
